How to make the perfect iced tea – step by step

Whether fruity, minty or invigorating – with our organic teas from Dietees you can easily make your own iced tea. Here you'll find two tried-and-tested methods for full flavour and maximum refreshment.

1. Classic method (hot brew + ice)

Perfect when it needs to be quick.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons of loose tea (approx. 3–4 g) or 1 tea bag

  • 250 ml hot water (depending on variety: 80–100 °C)

  • Ice cubes

  • Optional: lemon slices, fresh mint, a little honey or agave syrup

Preparation:

  1. Pour hot water over the tea as usual.

  2. Leave to steep for 5–10 minutes (a little longer for fruit tea, if you like).

  3. Strain the tea and let it cool.

  4. Pour into a glass of ice cubes and garnish with fresh ingredients.

  5. Enjoy right away – ice-cold and aromatic.

2. Cold brew method (cold infusion overnight)

For a particularly smooth flavour and fewer bitter notes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 litre cold water

  • 4–6 teaspoons of loose tea or 3–4 tea bags

  • Optional: fruit pieces, citrus, mint

Preparation:

  1. Put the tea in a carafe with cold water.

  2. Leave to steep in the fridge for at least 6–8 hours (overnight is better).

  3. Strain through a fine sieve.

  4. Serve chilled – ideal for hot summer days!

Tips for your perfect iced tea

  • Use filtered water for a better flavour.

  • Sweeten lightly after cooling rather than before – that way you keep control of the sugar content.

  • For extra aroma: leave the tea to steep with fresh fruit or herbs (e.g. basil, berries, ginger).

  • Freeze fruit pieces with tea in an ice-cube tray and use them as decoration.
