Answers about tea accessories
Which strainer suits which tea?
For leaf teas we recommend large basket filters so the aroma can develop fully. For rolled teas (oolong, pu-erh), fine-mesh stainless steel strainers are ideal. For powders such as matcha you don't need a filter at all, but a bamboo whisk (chasen).
How do I clean my bamboo whisk (chasen)?
After use, simply rinse the chasen briefly with warm water and let it air-dry. No washing-up liquid, no dishwasher. On a chasen holder it stands upright to dry perfectly — this considerably extends the life of the bristles.
Which teapot do you recommend for beginners?
For getting started, a glass teapot with a built-in stainless steel filter is the best choice: universally usable, easy to clean and it shows off the beautiful colour of the infusion.
How long does loose-leaf tea keep?
Stored airtight and protected from light in a tea tin, loose tea generally keeps for 18–24 months. Always store flavoured teas such as Earl Grey or rooibos with vanilla in separate tins, so they don't transfer their aroma to other varieties.
Are the tea filters biodegradable?
Yes – our paper filters are biodegradable and compostable. They are free from bleaching agents and ideal for on the go or at the office.
