ABOUT OUR AYURVEDA TEAS

Organic Ayurveda teas in the Indian tradition

At DieTees you will find traditional organic Ayurveda teas based on the classic dosha concepts of Indian tea culture. Popular choices are our Bio Ayurveda Vata, the Bio Ayurveda Pitta, the Bio Ayurveda Kapha as well as the practical Bio Ayurveda Set with all three blends. This category also features the traditional Bio Tulsikraut (holy basil).

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian body of teaching with a history going back thousands of years. Its core concept is the three doshas — Vata, Pitta and Kapha — described as cultural principles of energy. Ayurveda teas are herb and spice blends composed according to these classic principles — typical ingredients are ginger, cardamom, fennel, liquorice, cumin and tulsi.

The Ayurveda teas are foods and part of a cultural lifestyle concept. In India they are traditionally enjoyed warm and in a calm setting. Loose Ayurveda tea delivers more aroma than tea bags — the whole spices and roots release their essential oils better.

⚠️ Important note: Ayurveda teas are foods and not medicines. The descriptions of the three doshas are cultural and philosophical concepts from the Indian tradition — not medical efficacy claims. If you have health-related questions or before taking certain herbs (e.g. liquorice, tulsi), please consult a medical professional, pharmacy or general practitioner. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and people with pre-existing conditions should seek advice first.

THE THREE DOSHAS

The three classic dosha blends

The three doshas are the central concept of traditional Indian teaching. At DieTees you will find a characteristic organic herb-and-spice blend for each dosha:

💨 Vata

The dosha of movement (air). Organic Vata blend with warming spices such as ginger, cardamom and liquorice. Full-bodied and spicy in taste.

🔥 Pitta

The dosha of transformation (fire). Organic Pitta blend with fennel, rose and peppermint. Aromatic, fresh and mild in character.

🌍 Kapha

The dosha of stability (earth). Organic Kapha blend with ginger, black pepper, cinnamon and cumin. Spicy and piquant.

You will also find all three blends in the practical Bio Ayurveda Set Vata-Pitta-Kapha to get to know them. For classic Indian black tea blends with spices, take a look at our chai category. Pure herbal teas can be found in the pure herbal tea category.

Answers about Ayurveda teas

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian body of teaching with a history going back thousands of years. Its core concept is the three doshas — Vata, Pitta and Kapha — described as cultural principles of constitution and energy. Ayurveda teas are part of this cultural tradition and have long been enjoyed as herb-and-spice infusions.
The three doshas are Vata (air/movement), Pitta (fire/transformation) and Kapha (earth/stability). They are philosophical concepts from the Indian tradition and are used to compose different tea blends — each with its own typical ingredients.
Typical Ayurveda ingredients are ginger, cardamom, liquorice, fennel, pepper, cumin, cinnamon and tulsi (holy basil). Depending on the dosha blend, different emphases are set — Vata with warming spices, Pitta with milder ingredients, Kapha with piquant spices.
Water temperature boiling (100 °C), steeping time 5–10 minutes — roots and seeds take longer than flowers. One heaped teaspoon per 250 ml. In the Ayurvedic tradition the tea is ideally drunk warm and in a calm setting, in small sips.
Yes — the classic Ayurveda teas are pure herb-and-spice blends without caffeine. An exception can be blends with explicitly added black or green tea (e.g. some chai blends) — this is then stated in the ingredients list.
No. Ayurveda teas are foods and not medicines. They are not intended to treat, cure or prevent diseases. The dosha concepts are cultural and philosophical ideas from the Indian tradition. If you have health-related questions, consult a medical professional.
