ABOUT OUR ORGANIC GREEN TEAS

Green Tea – Tradition from the Mountains

At DieTees you'll find premium organic green tea in verified quality: from the classic Bio China Sencha from the mountains of Zhejiang to traditional Japan Sencha, aromatic Jasmin Chung Hao and delicate Earl Grey green tea – each variety with its own character. Green tea is one of the oldest tea cultures in the world and is traditionally prized for its fine, slightly tart aroma and its characteristic catechins (secondary plant compounds). Important when preparing: let the water cool to 70–80 °C and steep for only 1–3 minutes so the tea doesn't turn bitter. Our varieties come from certified organic cultivation, are free from artificial flavourings and are gently processed. Browse our selection above or discover more organic teas.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers about Green Tea

Green tea contains caffeine – about 20–30 mg per cup (250 ml), depending on the variety and steeping time. That is significantly less than coffee (80–100 mg) and slightly less than black tea (40–50 mg). Longer steeping times increase the caffeine content.
Let the water cool to 70–80 °C (not boiling, otherwise the tea turns bitter), 1 tsp of loose organic green tea per cup, steep for 1–3 minutes. High-quality varieties like Sencha or jasmine can often be infused 2–3 times – each infusion brings a new flavour profile.
Popular varieties include Sencha (Japan or China), matcha (powder), Bancha, Genmaicha (with roasted rice grains), Gyokuro (shade-grown tea), jasmine tea as well as Chinese classics like Long Jing or flavoured variants like Earl Grey green tea. Each variety has its own aroma profile.
Green tea contains caffeine. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, consumption should be reduced or discussed with a doctor. Usually 1–2 cups per day are considered safe – if in doubt, seek individual advice.
Stored airtight and protected from light in a tea tin, loose green tea keeps for about 12–18 months. Aroma and active compounds diminish over time. Store cool and dry – not in the fridge, as condensation forms.
