EU-Organic · DE-ÖKO-039 Warm & spicy Whole buds · vegan

Single-variety dried organic cloves – a warm, spicy aroma for tea, baking, mulled wine and cooking.

Our Whole Organic Cloves are the dried flower buds of the clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum) – one of the oldest and most precious spices in the world. Each bud contains essential oils that create the unmistakable warm, spicy aroma. Grown in certified organic cultivation, carefully dried and packed in Germany – without additives and without artificial flavourings. Pure in a tea blend, as an accent in baking or as a classic in mulled wine.

TASTE & CHARACTER

Warm. Spicy. Full of character.

  • Aroma: intensely warm and spicy, with a slightly resinous-balsamic note
  • Taste: deeply spicy with a sweet note in the depth
  • Character: full of character – just a few buds release plenty of aroma, so dose sparingly

THE INGREDIENTS

100 % pure cloves

  • Whole cloves (Syzygium aromaticum), dried flower buds
  • From certified organic cultivation, without additives – 100 % pure
  • Naturally caffeine-free and vegan

PREPARATION

How to brew it

Classic preparation

  1. 1–3 buds per 250 ml of water – dose sparingly
  2. Pour over with freshly boiling water (100 °C)
  3. Let steep for 5–8 minutes (longer = more intense)
  4. Tip: lightly crush the buds in a mortar before brewing so the essential oils develop better. In ready-made chai or spiced tea blends, 1 bud per cup is often enough.

Very versatile: in teas (chai, herbal and spiced tea blends), in baking (gingerbread, speculoos, biscuits), in mulled wine and punch, in marinades for braised dishes, sauces and sauerbraten, and in Middle Eastern cuisine.

Yes – as a pure spice, cloves are naturally caffeine-free and vegan. Do keep the overall blend in mind, though: combined with black tea, green tea or mate, the infusion contains caffeine.
When stored correctly (dry, cool, protected from light), whole organic cloves keep their aroma considerably longer than ground ones. The exact best-before date is printed on the packaging.

From our range: Combine the cloves with our organic black teas for chai, or discover all organic herbal teas.

Note: Organic cloves are a food or spice and not a medicinal product. Taste descriptions are subjective and may vary slightly from batch to batch. Cloves naturally contain concentrated essential oils (including eugenol) and should be used as a spice sparingly and in normal household amounts. In case of known allergies, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for children, or when taking medication, please consult a doctor or pharmacist before regular or high consumption.
