Our organic China Pu Erh tea comes from the southern Chinese province of Yunnan — the traditional home region of this special tea variety. Pu Erh belongs to the post-fermented teas — a classification that clearly sets it apart from black, green or white tea. Through controlled fermentation, it develops its characteristic earthy, woody character, making it one of the most unique tea experiences there is. In China and Tibet, Pu Erh has been enjoyed and cultivated for over a thousand years.

What is Pu Erh? Pu Erh (普洱, pronounced "Pu-Er") is a post-fermented tea specialty from Yunnan, China. Unlike black or green tea, Pu Erh undergoes a controlled microbial fermentation that gives it its characteristic earthy, woody aroma. The name derives from the town of Pu'er in Yunnan, where the tea was historically traded. Pu Erh can be stored and matured for years, even decades — like a fine wine.
BREWING
How to brew the perfect cup — traditionally, multiple times
Pu Erh handles hot water very well, letting it unfold its full earthy depth. In Asia, Pu Erh is traditionally infused several times — each infusion reveals new facets:

Water temperature: 95–100 °C (freshly boiled)
Dosage: 1 heaped tsp per 250 ml (~2 g)
Steeping time: 3–5 minutes
Enjoy: traditionally plain — the earthy character speaks for itself
🍵 Tip: Traditional "wash" + multiple infusions
Wash (optional, traditional): briefly pour hot water over the tea (10 sec.) and pour it off — this step activates the leaves
Then pour fresh water and let it steep for 3–5 min.
Multiple infusions: the leaves can be infused several times — extend the steeping time slightly from the 2nd infusion onward
